Annoucement: Urban Poetry is Moving

ANNOUNCEMENT: Urban Poetry Moving to WolffPoetry.com

image of urban poetry is moving

Hello, my beautiful followers and fans! First things first, thank you for your beautiful and supportive comments through this year. If wasn’t for all of you, Urban Poetry wouldn’t have grown as fast as it did.

But, Urban Poetry has grown and doesn’t conform to the structure of WordPress.com, we can only stay for a short time. The capacity of how fast this site is growing over capacitates the WordPress structure.

On October 5th, 2017 we purchased the domain name, Wolff Poetry.

I thought it only fitting to distinguish myself in this new domain name.

  1. Wolff, being my last name.
  2. Poetry is what I love to write.

Thus, is born the new me on the Internet “Wolff Poetry.” I bring a new thought to this new site. In many of the comments I have received, they are as follows.

These are the questions I am asked and in my new site, I will be inserting the answers through a blog post.

  1. How do you get so many page views a month in so short of time on the internet, since Urban Poetry only started January 3, 2017?
  2. How did you come to acquire so many followers in so little time?

  3. Can your offer resources of writing tools you use?

  4. Can your offer resources and help in how to get my poetry self-published?

Above and beyond, I want you to read for yourself “Who is Wolff Poetry?

I am in hopes that you will follow me to my new site, cause my mission is to offer support to new writers, and tips and tools to grow your following and blog, and offer assistance in helping you bring your creative writing to publication in the success I did.

Thanks again,

Linda J. Wolff

Your dearest fan!

Urban Daily Haiku: Hush

In this urban daily haiku, “Hush”

An illusion of a soul burying the pain deep within the wall of the flesh of the heart. Open eyes are unable to see the depth and the emotion that one can carry. Sometimes a  disguise under a smile. Depression lingers in the white flowers holding shadows, and the tears absorbed through the stem.

and silence, know of your tears
moon whispers hush, hush

Urban Ekphrastic Poem: Color-Blind

In this urban ekphrastic poem, “Color Blind.”

Love is blind, kinda like this digital art here, I created a fence line that runs into nowhere land…A mirage of reds, burgundy, greens, blues all collide. Relationships can be that way too especially with the struggles and challenges of everyday life. An ekphrastic poem to enjoy! Happy Friday everyone! Have an awesome weekend too!

Urban Ekphrastic Poem: Color-Blind

Like an abstract painting before it’s brought to life by brush strokes, unveil me into a single color enough to condone and let it bleed into a body that can breathe a life or at least an appreciation for one.

You are color-blind, leaning against the truck beside me as we listen to a lead guitarist riff…that gave rock-n-roll a name.  Or maybe you know, clinging to our mutual partiality of Ted Nugent set to obscurities.

I love “Great White Buffalo” like the first ridiculous story a boy told me on that old country road—that stirring of rebellion over tradition. Or maybe it was just the way he walked…fluidly. My attraction needs color and passion; the scratching of the guitar, the deliberate strokes.

I feel more vulnerable when you and I discuss our devotion to special music, of craziness, your fingers already, indulging goosebumps on my neck. They never stay long enough though…to paint abstract on my canvas. And how I want to let our colors bleed.

An urban ekphrastic poem

What is Ekphrastic Poem?

Poets.org expresses it like this: Ekphrastic poems are now understood to focus only on works of art—usually paintings, photographs, or statues. And new ekphrastic poems have shrugged off antiquity’s obsession with an elaborate description, and instead have tried to interpret, inhabit, confront, and speak to their subjects.

Silent Voices Suspended in Artistic Web

An urban free verse poetry, “Silent Voices Suspended in Artistic Web.”

Is history male or female? In some places it could be, it holds both, the old abandon places, still carry their voices, laughter, and love. The stories of the times, you and I will be a piece of something, a story left behind to be passed on through generations. Have you made your mark or left your gift to be remembered by somebody. Here’s an urban free verse and digital art piece to inspire.

Silent Voices Suspended in Artistic Web

Urban free verse poetry: Silent Voices Suspended in Artistic Web

The old Institute does its “nostalgia” so well
That other abandon places only lie—
See, an old church with its steeple stares at the sky
When I photograph in black and white,
I shudder at it blacken eeriness.

It’s windowed dark, speak of whispered tales or horrors,
of nothing or something,
I’m, enchanted by its habitat of gray lines,
compelled to know more of its history,
I give myself to feeling it’s emptiness and depth.

In its stalemate form, I am
comforted in shattered glass, not ready to walk away,
and turn into blue and green cheeriness, I wander upon its steps.
The creaking boards speak of neglect.
I feel pain here; I feel a love of what once existed.

Somebody’s grandmother, grandfather, son,
or daughter, someone wandered these hallways,
now silent voices suspended in an artistic web.
Somebody is being missed, longed for,
I know of this aching, I know you.

I long for preservation, your landmark of time.
I want to hear echoes of your stories painted on walls,
The forgotten, to be unforgotten,
The French architect “Eugene Viollet-le-Duc who believed in
Restoration of bringing the past to the present. I want this.

Free Verse – I Am Not a Poet

This free verse poetry “I Am Not a Poet.”

Tantalizes the escape of words, sometimes filtered through emotion like an hour glass. I hope you enjoy this tidbit of a free verse and the digital art piece.

Image of free verse poetry

I am not a poet.
I am a girl.
In a woman’s body.
I cry.
But not a lot.
I feel too!
Silly emotions erode places
So, I keep my thoughts to myself, until,
I’m ready to spin words into magic.
I have found that politeness
runs on bending roads.
It’s the edges I get lost in sometimes.
They wrangle inside.
And yearn for white canvas.
Learn to speak, to spill.
Loudly too.
Sometimes they’re quiet.
Profound as they may be, they’re nothing, unless viewed through looking glasses.
These twisted, squabblings do things-To people,
Reaching, calling to their hearts.
Like sand sifting through a fibrous paper.
Falling. Falling. To the bottom of somewhere.
In a trance, bound by each line.
Then, there it is. That smile, teeth baring expression.
Enlightenment. Like I said. I am not a poet.
Just a girl, spreading insight from the inside to the outside.

A Watery Haiku

In this little “A Watery Haiku”.

One would hope that when you stand among the forest and hear the sound of rushing water, that a certain amount a peace might flow through to the soul. It would make one want to linger a little longer instead of rush to go home to reality. A digital art piece to accent.

Poetry: These Noises. This Poetry.

A free verse poetry “These Noises. This Poetry”.

Do you catch yourself running words through your mind, somehow you must jot them down to be heard, to be read, or written for another. To say what the heart wants to say but only in noises wanting to spill into ink on white. I get like that. To quiet the storm of words muddling my day.

Image of These Noises. This Poetry.

Here’s my rendition of spilling these noises. This free verse poetry ink.

Oh, such noises they made.
Like clanging pots hanging from iron rod holes.
With the wind from an open window, forcing them to sway.
Sway this way and that.
A noise so loud, so sharp it
was deafening to my ears.
I had to reach in and stop them.
They needed out.
I needed to open the door,
and let them go.
Let them fall.
Fall and spill onto a white canvas landscape.
These words were screaming.
My words—To be absorbed within another’s soul,
Chewed and mulled over.
To be read by you.
These noises. This Poetry.

Poetry: a Murmuring Ghost.

Do you ever feel like your a murmuring ghost?

You’re asleep, and then there it is noises.  They become louder and louder to the point of waking up. A free verse poetry simulating the murmurings of the night or maybe dreams that wake the dead.

image of a murmuring ghost

My ghost,
She came back from the dead.
She wasn’t white.
But red instead.
She wore this grin.
With it,
she laughed continually.
It became quite annoying,
Obnoxious as hell.
I told her to stop it.
But the night rang a bell.
It was in these
wee morning hours.
That I realized;
was all but a dream.
It was just myself
and my loud murmurings.

One heart can feel so much.

…A little quote that packs a punch. We are capable of loving hard, deep, and lightly.

Micro-Poetry: Glazed Words

Using carelessness with words can leave hurt that won’t be erased from the heart and mind. Yes, we can forgive, but it will be remembered. You can’t take those words back, once they are spoken. A micro-poetry to remind us of how precious life and words are to listening ears.

Poetry: Come Home to Me

…We carry so many burdens of weight in the mind and heart. If we don’t release them, we become buried with bitterness, pain, and hurt. Set them free, forgive, and move on. There’s too much life to live. A free verse poetry and digital art piece of life and love.

image of birds flying home

It was
all those little parts of them,
the ones I had ever loved.
But they, couldn’t love me back.
Over the course of years,
the weight was too much to bear,
leaving no place for me under this skin.

Today, I release them…
Today, I come home to me.
