Free Verse: A Symphony of Flowers

A free verse poetry, “A Symphony of Flowers.”

There are times for me when I view things in a different light. I let my imagination run wild. I guess it is the creativity that is like an overflowing fountain of inspiration. Seeing more than whats really there. I thank GOD for such beautiful gifts. We each have one, have you found your special gift?

A Symphony of Flowers

Each flower, unique of itself,
brought something to this place.
To a flower garden created of love.
It reminded me of an orchestra.
Multiple pieces, sounding color.
A tender breeze whispering music into blossoms.
Each, flower swaying at the strike
of concord of sound and motion.
Each consisted of timing, one after the other.
I watched as the blossoms danced and swayed.
Become a silent symphony of flowers;
a musical composition.
Each blossom an instrument,
with thin stems stretching, of violins.
Each big flower head,
Of kettledrums, except upside down.
Each playing an orchestral part
in the ensemble of summer.
And I with my iced tea as the Maestro.
With each sip, the breeze became stronger.
The tempo of pitch and one could smell the
the fragrance as it shook free from blossoms.
A sky and trees watch in awe—a silent audience.

A free verse poetry, “Mirrored Souls”.

Of ourselves, we can become more than one identity. Emotions can make a mirrored image, split from happiness, of anger, of sadness. Or our true-selves, we can see our reflection in the mirror of life. A free verse poetry and a digital image of our mirroring souls.

Mirrored Souls

He must have planted you and me
of the same seed.
Pulled back from earth crust,
placed as one into softening dirt.
Must of have suddenly realized
how unsettling it was
to place that much magic dust
in one being and reluctantly split
that seed in two.
How else is it that I can see,
mine reflection in the mirror.
I see myself looking at you
the breaths you take to fill lungs with air.
The silhouette so fragile, yet there.
Like we just met, yet still, have known
one another forever, if we were not of one.

Free Verse: She is Abstract Art

In the free verse poetry, “She is Abstract Art”.

I can sit with my paint brush and canvas, I can paint her as art, even in her darkest hour, in her foggy light. I can draw the endless imagery of her shape, form, or line. And all the while she (nature) offers me all the seasons delight. Even if the day is cold, or the day is hot, she still gives me her beauty if I just open my eyes and mind. I can paint her abstract art.

She is Abstract Art

On the old wooden park bench.
I sit from a far gazing at her.
Her visual language astounds me,
every time I’m here.
She has every shape, forms of color
and lines to create.
The seasons tend to be her paint brush.
Yeilding a degree of independence.
One can see it everywhere.
She offers a grand illusion
underpinned by not just one solitary paintbrush.
I find myself departed from reality when I
am here with her, in her imagery.
She lures me, exclusively elusive in all color.
Colors that bleed across time, the world, philosophy.
She is non-objective,
She demands your presence.
Sometimes she is just the sky,
holding non-conforming balloons.
And other a series of splashed colored landscapes.
And others which are barely visible.
But here, I can see, she’s nature in all painting
She is abstract art.

Free Verse: Of How Shadows Speak

In this free verse poetry, “Of How Shadows Speak”.

I find I need to seek out solace. Especially when the day is crazy! Crazy in the sense that there’s no stopping, no breaks. As a single mom, life tends to work itself that way. A constant mirage of places to be, people to see. Not that I don’t mind it. But when I find that place that brings me to a peaceful solace I take it in and absorb it. Do you? Do you take the time to step out of reality?

Shadows Speak

Of How Shadows Speak.

The slightest breeze stirred; mixing blue and green.
My eyes followed to the darker shades.
It was the way the light flickered through the colors.
That caught my attention.
The slow swoop and sway of bending branches.
And how the leaves changed from green to pink.
It was music. But there were no words.
Each light flicker…Struck another chord.
A white noise colored with silence.
It drew me into a trance.
I felt my muscles relax.
My heartbeat slowed to a balanced state.
What I felt was dosed a natural aphrodisiac.
It was what it did to my mind. The quietness.
Peaceful state of being in mind, body, and soul
In unity with nature. Peaceful tranquility.
I like this solace of quiet greens and blues.
I like this…Of how shadows speak too.
It felt good.

In the mundane, in the struggles of life, in the grief of loss, we are given a special person who is our anchor, they surround themselves in our life and comfort to the best of their abilities. Do you have a special someone who gives you a seascape of love and life? Share your story! A free verse and digital piece to open perspective.

Seascape of Love

The calm of the dark seascape reaches for miles.
Only for a moment though. A rising dawn brings to light,
mountains in the distance.
The calming mirage of blue holds my thoughts momentarily in solace.
My mind comes back to you.
Like waves crashing on craggy rocks.
Somehow, I’ve seemed to have lost you,
in the dark, thick of seascape.
Challenges leave you floundering and crashing in waves.
They’ve seemed to pull you deeper.
Down into the depths,
of deep dark water near the bottom.
Almost to the place of the drowning:
like rocks tied to a wrist.
Weighted heart.
I see you from time to time,
on the Whitecaps, where breaks are about happiness.
And I on the shore, am watching.
I try to push my small boat upon the choppy currents.
I’m determined to rescue you.
Along side, my boat oars are my anchors of love.
Paddling as fast, and furious as I can.
I find you.
Tossing my anchor over crashing waves, it falls
dark. I feel it dig into the seabed of your heart.
And I hold you till the storm passes.

In this seascape of love.

Some of us hold the most profound emotions, bottled up of the struggles, of pain, of grief, and even of love, and only waiting for someone to help reveal, expose these hidden feelings…To open their hidden gate. To feel the release through talking, consoling, and possibly tears. Healing.

What is Ricatmeter Verse Poetry?

Rictameter Verse – From all the poem forms here, I have come to find a new type a poetry it is the Rictameter verse. This poem uses 9 lines in the poem, and strict syllable counts 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 with the first line repeating itself in the last line. This style of writing can be a rhyming sequence or non-rhyming lines.

Free Verse: Spinning Tales Over Tea and Cookies

In this free verse poetry, “Spinning Tales Over Tea and Cookies “.

They might just be sweet, or sour, but they are what they are. Maybe a lesson, or another blessing. But they’re a tale worth spinning. Each holds a weight in the learning, the joy, and the challenge to our children. Valuable key pieces to bringing up successful, balanced young adults.

Just moments they were.
But in them so much.
Hot steaming water poured over tea bags.
In grandma’s gold encrusted tea cups.
The best part was.

The steam and aroma, how it seemed to swirl
around her laughter.
The tales she would spin, as we dosed our tea
with cream and honey.
The rain seemed to be a comfort too.
On those cold days. The pitter patter sound
and the way the tea went down open throats.

It felt like music.
With each line, she told, each sip became sweeter,
a crescendo, my eyes would widen with
the pitch of her story
or was it the tea and the moment.
I loved it all. Grandma is long from this world, but still,

I have memories of her and the tales she spun.
So now here I sit, like so many times at
grandma’s table,
spinning tales over tea and cookies
to her with those sparkling brown eyes.

Free Verse: Rise and Shine Monday

The weekend was grand. I didn’t want it to be over. Fun and festivities of summer. Some Mondays are harder to get up and get motivated. But I must rise and shine with the sun! Good morning beautiful peeps, hope this Monday finds you well!

Rise and Shine Monday!

Didn’t want to wake this 6:30 am.
Eyelids, lulled with a romantic dream.
I wanted to stay there.
A demanding alarm clock rings upon eardrums.
It was time to get up.
Warming yellow fingers stretch across pillow tops.
I stretch and yawn.
Dew and dust fought for placement.
Fragrance filtering through the open window.
Poignant lavender lilacs from next door.
So strong it is. Nose burns with delight.
Tiredness hung to my bones like wet draping blankets.
Should have gone to bed earlier.
Furry beast sails into the air.
Landing licks upon waking faces.
Wished he’d brought me coffee instead.
Rise and shine Monday morning!

Free Verse: Life Unfurled

To see how big, or how small one’s own self is; take a walk on the wild side. Step outside of the sidewalk, the city lights, its hustle, and bustle. Step into a place that speaks of green places, of euphoria through inhaling fragrances that linger on a teasing breeze. Watch life unfurl before your seeing eyes.

Life Unfurled

The eye sees, the green
Coiling, curling forward.
The gentle ease of fronds
Fingers. In the forest,
Tall standing trees, witness of
Mother Earth, infinitive wilderness.
She awaits another birth.

Hanging hearts and old vines
Lay claim upon branches,
The dew drops water parched ground
Smiling childhood wonders.

Flush of eroding pink fragrance
catches open noses.
Prickly wild red rose wanders,
upward and over.
Of dead limbs, darken moisten
coverage for hovering umbrellas.
Creepy crawling legs sprawl across lines.

Open and closed spaces
Blue is its vast breath
Shaped balloons drift slowly
To the temptress breeze

The slow, uncurling, opening
Toward warming yellow glow
Unfurl, the life above and below
towards a light, or truth
yielding an open ground unearthed
and of where these roots and feet bound.
Hand and branch, we toil.

Wake to the beckoning of a new dawn, the smell of a fresh breeze coming through the window. It smells of dampness, dew, and dust. It has Summer written all over it. An acrostic poem and digital art piece to draw you into the awakening of a morning.

Awakening…Stirring soul
Willing new dawn rises with Hello.
A little birds chirp. Singing
Keen, bright melodies
Emerging orange sun dares
Newly summer day
Idol eyelids wakeup call
Nuances soothing faces
Gratitude for another day

An acrostic is a poem, where the first letters of the lines spell out a topic or title of the poem. Acrostic poems may or may not have a rhyming scheme. Look at my example above, the title is “mornings”, each line I used the letter A, W, A, K, E, N, I, N, G, to create a non-rhyming acrostic poem.

Free Verse – I Have Felt It

A free verse poetry, “I Have Felt It”.

Oh, the volume we could speak if backed by integrity; if backed by the perception of processing of how to dialect is received. Somehow, we get lost in emotions and use verbiage that buries, hurts. It puts a strain on relationships, on family, on love. Growth comes in the deciphering of expression. The questions, why, what, when, where, and how? Learning to express with a conscience, humility to grow love.

I have felt its white expression.
I have felt the black inside—and outside too.
I have seen it ironic, and iconic in size.
I saw some in colors, some in gray.
I have watched how it captivates, enchants.

I have felt how it forms and sputters tempered by emotion.
I have felt how it draws tears from a deep well.
I have felt how it bruises within.
I have felt how its pierces the soul like an arrow.
I have seen how laced with poison, deadly enough it can kill.

Some could build fortresses; some remain in crumbles of debris.
Some breed success; and some breed frailty.

These little, uttered ebbs have an edge.
Expressed from an opening of lips.
Lips so luscious and beautiful.
Lips so masculine and taunt.

But of all of I’ve felt, it is to express love,
to be loved, in words, in humanity “I Love You!”.

An Acrostic Poem “Scribbles” of enlightenment.

Scribbles on a wall could be disastrous, painted with black, etched in time. I tend to look at them as art. Like a mural, it speaks of things, emotions, laid deep inside of somewhere. Choosing to erase them or grow upon their foundation with color and light might be the way to inspire. An acrostic poem and digital art piece for enlightenment.

Scribbles

Scribbles…Like time pieces across a canvas.
Collected in one’s mind. Paint a picture.
Random of racing thoughts and quiet ones too.
Ideally found in black in white.
But some cluster in bursting color.
Beautiful fireworks, lighting eyes, heart.
Lustrous, recognition colors of learning, love, or life.
Everyone gathers vision and perspective.
Scribbles…Significant parts of past, present, future in thoughts and heart.
