Free Verse: Lightning Moves Me.

In this free verse poetry, “Lightning Moves Me.”

I think back to the challenges I’ve faced throughout my life, of the pain of loss, of abuses of from hands or words of another, at the poverty stricken moments. Then of the little and the big blessings, of the beautiful children I have given birth to, and my darling Bianca, I adopted, at the age of 47. To start again being a mother.

Lightning Moves Me.

Would I change any of it? That’s a hell no! Lightning moves me. Helps me to feel completely alive. To feel every emotion of happiness and joy, sadness, anger, or pain to the full extent of my extremities, to the core of my being. It’s what makes whom I am today, to breathe life into books, to breathe life into words, so fueled by life’s lightning rod. A little free verse and digital art piece to bring electricity to an eyes sky.

Free verse poetry: Lightning Moves Me

Allow me to be the clouds,
allow me to pour raindrops.
I’m saying I can hold you up,
even the rain retreats to make room
for the sun to shine.
I want to forget all the sun rises
that demand perfection.
Lightning moves me.
Scream into the fierce wind ’till the voice
is hoarse above lightning strikes.
Dear GOD, is this it?
Some fingers strike in a sky pushing
the blue of the day away in a gray
and cotton balls fill with
Teardrops, emptying that way.

In this free verse poetry, “Nature’s Speckled Delight.”

It was a square area.
A plot of time held her.
Colorful presence lingers a short while.
Sunlight crawls down smiling faces.
Ravishing orange. Nature’s Speckled delight.
You’re a unique one.
Although some frown splendor.
Green is your great friend.

An enchanting native princess of a garden.
Shrubbery, a coat protects petals.
Tongue tastes the air.
It’s like talking rain…Tomorrow.
Summer’s changing.
Winds carry seeds
for Spring landscape.
Winter protects her colors.

Free Verse; Boxes. Sun Fingers. Hot Liquid.

Free verse poetry, “Boxes. Sun Fingers. Hot Liquid.”

Sometimes life puts one in situations, not of choice, learning lessons is the story of unfolding. Maybe it is a new calling…and had you not experienced personal hardship you would have never found your true calling. Are you listening? A free verse poetry and digital piece to emphasize depth.

Life a Pendulum

I was there at a point in life. I was going through a challenging relationship, and in it, I found I had the voice to write words and tell a story of emotions. The relationship ended, but I found my true self. My voice, my strength to speak out-loud and be heard.

Free verse poetry: Boxes. Sun Fingers. Hot Liquid.

Breathing soul,
do you still question?

You once slept
in cardboard boxes
on a cracked concrete
that held skyscrapers.

It was cold.

Sun fingers brought
warmth…to tattered blankets
and wherever you slept,
that path
held it’s paintings.

Some mornings
an aluminum cylinder was
left with yesterday’s
morsels for screaming tummy.

And sometimes was nothing.

Breathing soul,
isn’t it lovely—

you now sit beside
bright window…
With etchings of beauty.
Hot steaming liquid
to pour down a throat.

Life paints boxes. Sun fingers. A Hot liquid of how small it taste but enjoyable.

Free Verse: Almost a Spec of Nothing

A free verse poetry, “Almost a Spec of Nothing.”

When death sits at your doorstep and knocks one too many times. It is the knowledge that we occupy life only briefly. Something happens when you die, and come back when you are allowed to breathe, to see, to inhale tender fragrances again. That’s when one begins to believe in hope and desire of being alive.

Image of free verse poetry,

Free verse poetry: Almost a Spec of Nothing

Of green moss that grows on old age trees.
I see a path of rocks, of debris to somewhere,
old stumps still standing, leaves overhead,
blue scattered pieces of sky
flying hawks screech, soaring for their next warm take out dinner.
What calls to me from the standing timbers?
With this breath of hope and desire.
I squint at sun rays stretching fingers, over and around, through.
I am almost a spec of nothing, a nonentity.
I fought to be here as an “almost”.
I breathe and inhale hope.
I refused to leave this world.
I am all the breaths of those before me,
who went to heaven just to come back again.
With his touch and whispers, he said quietly; “You have to stay!”
And whom am I to disagree?

Free Verse; Brass & Graceful Blooms of Life

In this free verse poetry, “Brass & Graceful Blooms of Life.”

Even the little things are huge. I had an old brass pail with a handle. I had thrown pieces of myself into it. Pieces that went with time. Pieces laced with tears, love, and memories. Somehow, I just want to hang onto that old brass pail awhile. A free verse poetry and digital art piece of memories.

Brass & Graceful Blooms of Life

Brass & Graceful Blooms of Life

It was brass.
A brass catch all for everything.
An old pail discolored with age.
Handle attached.
Green pigment stained.
Long in Shape.
But it was more. It held stories.
Stories of where I’d been.
Old keyring—with keys to a house I could
never enter again,
But memories.
Damn those memories still lived there.
Of me.
An old dog chain of Harry’s.
He’d died of heart ache when daddy passed.
Poor old soul. I miss his bark down
hallways, chasing a mouse.
An old wooden elk call—still sounds
like yesterday
with daddy’s lips all over it.
Mommy doesn’t have the heart,
to let it go.
Cause there inside that brass pail.
Remains a packet of seeds he gave her.
Labeled: “Graceful Blooms of Life.”
She’s going plant them in a garden
and in my heart.

Free Verse: All His Black and White

A free verse poetry, “All His Black and White.”

In breaths, we speak, oh how shallow words can be. When held on death’s door, life is the window, sometimes barred, or sometimes open if we can see through it. Eyelids open. This little free verse poetry is about my loss of my cat, it gave me a reality of how quickly life can be stolen, or taken from us. In every moment there is value in breathe.

All His Black and White

Free Verse Poetry, “All His Black and White.”

I held him…
Him, in all his black
and white.
Small, frail rib cage
of shallow breath,
of limber limbs.
It was all I could do.
To give him his last
resting place,
before death
takes him from me.
I remember,
how he’d wrap tiny paws
around my neck;
Like a fur bearing necklace.
Suckling my earlobes cause
he’d missed his mama.
I didn’t mind; it was cute.
The way he hung from
blue jeans like an
earrings fastened in holes.
That dam antifreeze was
his addiction, the ruination of
tiny kidneys
I watched him,
looking softly at me,
as I caressed
And felt life slipping from lungs.
Eyelids were dark
of lasting love, he’d given.
One last curl of his paw.
Eyes closed.
I held him awhile and cried.
Have sweet dreams,
my precious Booger cat.
I know; you’ll be chasing
butterflies
in a blue and white sky.
I held him. One last time.

Insect prey. Song of the wind stirring a leaf.
A leaf falls on an auxiliary

signals, no meal.

Free Verse: The Howling Train

A free verse poetry, “The Howling Train.”

It’s in the small experiences, big ones too, that I realize just how precious life really is. In my life time, I have been to places that have made me feel so tiny, like a grain of sand. It has taught me, that I am a part of a bigger picture.

Image of free verse poetry,

A place of being, a fleck of humanity, a part of a community. It takes each of us to give to humanity. A free verse poetry and a digital art piece in appreciation of life.

The Howling Train

An old railroad crossing
In the middle of God’s country.
Planks wide enough I could see my soul,
Through and through.
It was kind of unnerving.
The depth just went on and on.
I threw a pebble into the gap.
Down, down, down it went.
No echoing sound came back.
My soul wasn’t like that.
I, like the plank, would age over time,
Time stamped with determination.
Standing there with just
a plank underneath my feet.
I felt invincible.
Vulnerable. A soul crossing.
I placed my hand upon cold railroad track.
Something was imminent.
A train, coming from a far-off distance.
Vibrations echoed of the chugging.
Then a choo, choo from its horn.
Again Choo. Choo.
I must move quickly across.
Now I felt vulnerable.
What if I trip, stumble?
I have nowhere to go
but down like the pebble.
I crept, swiftly across watching the placement
Of my feet. I was shaking.
My heart is pounding; I could hear the train’s
increasing sound as it drew near.
I jumped off to the side of track
Onto the tall grass, I stumbled, tripping over my feet.
My shoe caught in the long grass.
I rolled over onto my butt
and watched the train approach.
100, 75, 50 ft. closer.
Screaming horn. The air was hostile.
Diesel rang a strong smell, burning nostrils.
Somehow, I felt tiny.
The train howled past
Every part of me was shaking.
Then, away, away. Quieter dissipating was gone.
I laid on my back staring at the blue sky, appreciating the smallness of me, realizing that was a close call.

Free Verse: Small Spoonfuls of Learning

A free verse poetry, “Small Spoonful of Learning.”

Are you one, that enjoys your cup of coffee in the morning? I am. I enjoy with each sip, the mythological moments, where I can mull over the night before, or the start of the morning. Sometimes, I am an over thinker, weighing too much thought of things, or events. Somehow, with each delivery of a sip swallowed, I come to a resolution or an acceptance. You? A free verse poetry and digital to question thoughts.

Small Spoonfuls of Learning

Free Verse Poetry: Small Spoonfuls of Learning

Delivery was in the cup.
A cup yearned for every morning.
Delivery was in its sweetness;
It’s creamery effect upon the tongue.
Hotness-that would scorch an open throat.
Some find it bitter.
Sharp like gulping down nasty words;
forced upon innocence to accept it.
Not everything is sweet. I get that too.
Not everything is bitter.
But some prefer it that way.
I prefer.
I prefer it in between.
Each cup of life or coffee dosed
with caring, understanding,
compassion, and love.
Sweet and creamy in learning.
I know of the small, bitter doses too.
And those small spoonfuls of learning.
I tend to stir a little acceptance
and gratitude in the lesson.
A sweet, warm, delivery of an excellent
cup of coffee and life.

Daily Haiku: Gray Abandonment

In this daily haiku, “Gray Abandonment.”

I find it sad when I see old abandon buildings, like the one in this digital art piece. A piece of history lived there. I imagine of the laughter, of the happiness, despite hardships endured. It was a small, but deserving life. Yet, despite it all, it held stories. Births of lives, of deaths. It breathes a story. A daily haiku.

Image of In this daily haiku,

I wanted to embrace the gray. I want to feel the light that once filled the shadows with laughter. To hear the patter of small, of bigger feet. To smile upon the faces that embraced this time and space of gray abandonment.

Free Verse: Park, a Quiet Sequence

A free verse poetry, “Park, a Quiet Sequence.”

I love going to the park, watching as the SUN whispers its last goodbyes of the day. The effect of its glow across the water, the sky is so profound with color. It inspires a write. A free verse poetry and digital art piece to help you envision.

Park, a Quiet Sequence

Park, a Quiet Sequence

Sun drowned evening,
Creates pink—purple palette
Against drifting clouds.
Brought to wanton eyes.
Elsewhere, the birds flock overhead,
And the breeze whispers
To once calm water.
I stand to gaze off the
Minute to minute changes.
I am warm, yet cooling.
I know nothing of what
the breeze has whispered
To stir ripples across blue.
Grass along watery edge,
tenderly bow to a lowering sun.
An ordinary night, near an average park,
where the only proof of people,
is the car lights, shy and distant.

Free Verse: When I Feel

A free verse poetry, “When I Feel.”

Emotions can be like nature, tempered by changes. Such as the seasons change from summer to fall, or we have changes in our lives. These changes can bring on feelings, happiness, anger, sadness, and love. A little free verse poetry and digital art piece to brighten your Monday!

When I Feel

When I Feel

I don’t know if any living thing is perfect.
When I am sad
I don’t cry; tears pour from eyes.
Like a tree going through changes of seasons.
Leaves fall.

When I am happy; a smile glows from my face.

Is this of the flowers when the sun
gives a warm embrace.
When I am angry; yelling is not for me.
I don’t yell; I burn.
Like a tree struck by lightning. When I resolve.

I talking quietly, softly like a spring breeze whispering to nature,

Come let’s grow together.
Of these extremes in feelings
When I love, I love completely.
Giving my love wings like an eagle,
I soar wild into a blue.
