Free Verse: Life Among Stars

In this free verse poetry, “Life Among Stars.”

A subtle night of observing, the sites and sounds of nighttime talking. The eyes and ears. See and hear the stars stirring, a sky sharing a night show. White shooting lights speak in the darkest of night. I feel words rising a canvas surface.

Free Verse Poetry: Life Among Stars

Star’s radiant shine: dimmer.
Then bright. Still, I watch.

Even among the black.
Too much delight here.

A striking meteor fire of white glitter.
Furred wings flutter for bugs.

Owl’s soft who are you.
Coolness collides. Goosebumps rise.

I settle to the distant hum
of wheels on pavement.

September night, a warm merlot.
I listen and owl hoots.

What is a Free Verse Poetry? Typically patterned by speech rather than meter, this form of poetry is very open to the author’s discretion and usually does not rhyme. Visual and sound effects are often employed.  It can have as many lines as the writer wishes.

Free Verse: I Am in His House

In this free verse poetry, “I Am in His House.”

A hiker, and a red fox cross paths. Sharing something of a necessity. Sharing space of green, browns, and lavender, scents and smells of wild. In small slow gestures, sounding together in a symphony of silence. Each a piece of something bigger, yet something significant in what we call nature. A free verse poetry and digital art piece to accentuate the appreciation of nature.

I Am in His House

With the heat of summer,
I’m forced to take refuge,
under a big, old oak, near a small pond.
Nearly overgrown with tall grass,
it was barely visible.
It made me thirsty seeing it.
Especially after a long afternoon walk.
I had to stop and drink.
And so it seems he did too.
He wasn’t aware of me in the shadows.

At least not right away,
a medium sly Red fox.

Walking as if in stealth mode,
he moved slowly, cautiously.
His body was lean and rigid; like the old man,
Winter had left him scarce of food.
I watched him quietly, as not to scare him off.
Abruptly his nose went up into the air.
He smelled of me, looking for me, this way and that.
Then, I felt the cold stare.
I put the water bottle to my mouth in slow gesture.
He lowered his head to the pond, taking one lap of
water after another. There at that pond, we drank of life of nature.
All the while his eyes upon me.
This small pond was his place,
and I had trespassed upon it.
I slowly turned, and walked away quietly,
watching him. He stayed, drinking more.
I could feel his eyes. Still, I glanced again.
He was gone.

Poetry – Stardust in Her Veins

In this free verse poetry, “Stardust in Her Veins”.

You’ll want to appreciate everything around you. How the moon looks so brilliant with its illuminance, how stars are numbered. How the rain smells like a fresh new start. How the flowers stand out so colorfully, for your viewing. A free verse poetry and digital art piece simulating all this and more.

She was just a girl made of sun and moon.
Who can make flowers bloom
from the light, she holds within.
With every step she takes,
she leaves seeds in her wake.
She’s quiet on the outside,
but sunlight shines through her ribcage.
She’s quite shy, for the Moon only rises when
she tiptoes across the night.
But she’s what sprinkles stars,
in the blackest of a sky.
I’ve heard others say, that there’s stardust in her veins.
And when she hurts, you’ll see shooting stars.
And if you listen when the day is bright,
you can hear her whispering to trees.

Her song is a tender song of nature.
